- HR Breakout: The Future of Employment Screenings
Alan Kinsey, InquireHire- Employment screening has been an established business practice for more than 30 years. The process of acquiring job-relevant information about a candidate helps employers mitigate the risk of a poor hiring decision and protect their organization, employees, customers, and other stakeholders from violence, theft, and other forms of harm. New legislation is increasing that can limit an employer’s access to criminal records and impede their use of such records by imposing burdensome and complex processes. Additionally, the cost of credentialing information such as employment verification or education verification have increased exponentially, and this challenges the value proposition associated with this information. In this session we will review these impediments and discuss some alternative options that employers may want to consider. Participants in this session will learn how to evaluate their current employment screening protocol in light of these developments, and determine if they should consider eliminating some practices, and potentially replace those practices with other techniques.

Randy Dean- In this popular quick-hitting program on “finding an extra hour of productivity” every day, Randy Dean, MBA, the “Totally Obsessed” Time Management/E-mail Guy uses humor and high energy as he goes into many of the most common areas of productivity loss (and possible gain!) afflicting many busy professionals today: managing multiple projects, maintaining “traction” when dealing with tasks and interruptions, managing your e-mails more efficiently, clearing the clutter in your mind for better focus and attention, keeping staff on task, tracking “who owes you what” and getting that information on time, and better managing your calendar and contacts for better time and relationship management. His goal is to help stressed out performers learn several new and immediately useful strategies for finding a few minutes on tasks, activities, and actions you are already doing, leading to at least an extra hour of productivity every day, as well as a better way to start and manage your day so more time is devoted to your key projects, clients, and activities with less distraction.
